Furled Tapered Nymphing Leaders handmade here in Missoula, Montana You are bidding on one (1) handcrafted 7 1/2 ft furled nymphing leader. It is perfect for a 5 or 6 weight flyline. The 2ft strike indicator section is built from 2lb test hi-vis yellow Stren. The 5-step-taper clear monofilament section is built from 2lb clear Trilene XL ending in a tiny 6-strand Shorb loop. They are joined together with a tiny loop-to-loop connection during construction. I've been working on the perfect furled leader for shallow & deep water, fast & slow water, and small & large nymphs for several seasons. Trying many materials, lengths of strike indicators, and formulas for both the indicator and the clear leader section...these are the best that I have ever seen. features: *FASTER STRIKE DETECTION THAN BOBBER-STYLE INDICATORS *LACK OF MEMORY REDUCES STIFFNESS - MUCH MORE SUPPLE THAN SINGLE-STRAND MONO *SUPERIOR TRACKING OF FLY DURING DRIFT *COMPATIBLE WITH 2X - 7X TIPPET *MORE ECONOMICAL (LEADERS CAN LAST FOR SEASONS INSTEAD OF MONTHS) *I PERSONALLY HAND-BUILD EACH LEADER TO ASSURE THAT THEY ARE FURLED BEAUTIFULLY Connect to flyline with loop-to-loop connection. Add 1 - 4 ft of the appropriate size tippet, then weight, then tippet and fly. Treat strike indicator section with fly floatant. Using polarized glasses, many times you will see the portion of the strike indicator below the surface pause, twitch, or stop before the surface portion stops. This provides quicker response to strikes than any surface bobber-type indicator that indicates nothing until the surface indicator moves or pauses. These leaders have extremely low memory and actually "break in" and get better with use. Shock absorbency is distributed throughout the leader, instead of just the tippet section.
